Welcome to Communication Crossroads
Communication Crossroads is a specialized, speech and language private practice
that is located in Monterey, California. It was formerly located in Marlborough,
Massachusetts until 2003. The practice has been designed to serve children with
Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), including autism, Asperger's Syndrome, and related
social learning disabilities (PDD-NOS, NLD, etc.), from birth to adolescence, their
families, and those involved in their care (clinicians, educators, and paraprofessionals).
At Communication Crossroads, we recognize that both social-communication and emotional
regulation play a central role in typical child development and that vulnerabilities
in these areas compromise a child's developmental path, his or her ability to form
satisfying relationships, and his or her ability to independently adapt to the demands
of different social environments.
Given the limited number of trained professionals in the field of autism and the
growing number of programming options, we at Communication Crossroads are strongly
committed to providing educational workshops for educators, service providers, and
administrators who are seeking guidelines for implementing therapeutic/educational
plans that are grounded in current research and our understanding of childhood development
and family-centered care. We are also strongly committed to providing quality
assessment services for families of children with ASD.
Several commitments guide our paths as professionals
A commitment to increase the accessibility of specialized therapeutic
and educational services by providing educational workshops to professionals and
service providers who serve children with ASD and their families.
A commitment to further the understanding of the factors that lead to
social-communication disorders by contributing to academic research and publications.
A commitment to understanding the influence of contemporary therapeutic/educational
models on improving quality of life for children with ASD and their families.
