Educational Workshops and Caregiver Education Programs

Educational workshops and caregiver education programs are often requested as a means of providing information to staff members in an agency or school district, service providers in a community, and/or family members. The length, content and curriculum of these trainings can vary depending upon the needs of an individual school district, agency, or program.

Frequently requested workshops include the following:

Introduction to the SCERTS Model; A Comprehensive, Multidisciplinary Educational Curriculum for Children with Autism SpectrumDisorders (1- or 2-day formats, large audience)

SCERTS Implementation - Team Training; Implementing the SCERTS Assessment Process (SAP) to guide program development for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (2-day format, limited to 30 participants)

High Functioning Autism and Asperger's Syndrome; Addressing Social Communication and Emotional Regulation (1- or 2-day formats, large audience)

Addressing Emotional Regulation in Children and Adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders (1- or 2-day formats, large audience)

Caregiver education programs (varying curricula, 1.5 or 3 hour formats)

One of the primary commitments of Communication Crossroads has been to increase the accessibility of specialized therapeutic and educational services by providing educational opportunities for professionals who serve children with ASD and their families. Emily Rubin, MS, CCC-SLP and Amy Laurent, OTR/L have conducted a number of professional development conferences, community workshops, and in-services hosted by various educational programs.
